Q&A With The Skip and Libby

1. What inspired you to become an author?

Libby and I conduct a series of educational workshops in and around Ohio. We are constantly surprised by how there is so much false misinformation about financial topics and especially with estate planning. Since our entire business model is based on Educating people about options it was only natural to put it in writing and now with our second book, we are adding new information at a different level.

2. When did you first realize you had a passion for writing?

Actually Never! But the need to get the information out forced our hand and we did it kicking and screaming. However, I have to admit once we got started on a topic the world just flowed. Also, there was some fun word crafting to make some very complicated topics easier to understand was fun!

3. What has been your biggest challenge as an author?

Honestly getting started and then finishing… In our world, estate planning at this level is so intertwined it is hard to stop.

4. Who is your biggest writing inspiration?

Truly the inspiration is to get the word out that people over 65 years old NEED to do some things to protect their “Stuff”. Most of the families we work with have already won the race of life. Now they need to “Finish Strong!” How are they protected from Lawsuits, Probate the nursing home, and market fluctuations… This information is too important not to have written the book on it.

5. What book are you reading right now?

Currently, I am reading more fiction!

6. What sets your book apart from others in the same genre?

We have worked hard to let people know that 1st there is a problem in estate planning… The fact is most people do not have a plan at all… which leaves them open to losing assets to lawsuits, Probate, nursing homes, and market fluctuations… We actually show people how to protect themselves, their families, and their assets.

7. How do you beat writer’s block?

I give in and walk away… I go to work and see how people “Think they are prepared” and get motivated real quick to finish.

8. What do you hope readers take away from your writing?

My goal is to educate people on the problems of Estate Planning and give them a roadmap.

9. If you could describe your writing journey in three words, what would it be?

Exciting and Enlightening

10. What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Just keep writing… Find your passion and let it flow on the screen.

11. Where can we find you when you’re not busy writing?

Sailing… Sailing… Sailing….

13. Where can we find you on social media/website?

Facebook
